New Sri Lankan Normal Bus ticket Price 05.08.2022

The National Transport Commission has reduced bus fares effective from midnight Thursday 04 and the passengers are requested to complain to 1955 if any bus charges higher fares disregarding the revision.

On the recommendation of the National Transport Commission and with the approval of the Minister of Transport, the minimum bus fare has been revised to 34 rupees with effect from midnight today, the Director General of the National Transport Commission, Dr Nilan Miranda said. After calculating that bus fares should be reduced by 11.14 per cent, taking into account the recent revision of diesel prices and the reduction of 10 per cent from the previous increase of 20 per cent in bus fares, it has been decided to reduce the minimum bus fare from 38 to 34 rupees. Average fares have been reduced to 350 journeys.

Mr Miranda further mentioned that the Sri Lanka Transport Board and other road passenger transport services have been informed that the newly revised fares should be charged from midnight tonight.

The Director General says that the bus fares revised for ordinary bus services will also apply to SisuSariya, Provincial Buses, Gami Sariya, Morning and Night Special Service Buses, and recently started Public School Service Buses. Mobile inspectors have been deployed to check whether the passengers are charged according to the new rates.
